About Happn AI

Happn AI is a small studio that writes companion characters. We are not trying to build a replacement for people. We are trying to make a handful of characters good enough that talking to them feels like something rather than nothing.

Why we keep the cast small

A character needs a voice, a set of interests, a sense of humour and limits. That takes writing, and writing does not scale by the thousand. Every character on this site has a written biography, a tone of voice and a defined idea of who they are for. When we add someone new, it is because we had something to write, not because the grid looked empty.

What we will not do

We do not build characters based on real, identifiable people. We do not publish explicit material. We do not pretend a character is a therapist, a doctor or a lawyer, and we ask our characters to say so plainly when a conversation reaches that ground.

Who it is for

Adults who want conversation: after a long shift, on a quiet Sunday, in a new city, or during the hours when nobody else is awake. Some people use Happn AI for collaborative fiction, some for practising a language, some simply to be asked how their day went.
